Many viral infections, including Covid-19, influenza, glandular fever, can result in long-term symptoms. These continue even when the virus is gone from the body. While the condition is called post-viral fatigue, fatigue is not the only symptom. You may also suffer from chronic pain, problems with circulation, or brain fog.
There is no specific test for post-viral fatigue. But if testing has eliminated other causes and you are still suffering, you may have post-viral fatigue.
Post-viral fatigue which continues for months may also be diagnosed as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. At PIM, we focus less on the formal diagnosis and more on finding effective treatment for each patient as an individual.
Treating Post-Viral Fatigue
Just as there is no test, there is no accepted cure either. Treatment is designed to manage symptoms, starting with the most difficult ones for you as an individual.
Treatment may involve rest, dietary changes, supplements and injectable nutrients as well as medication. Outcomes also vary. Some people recover in a few weeks. Others find symptoms continue for months. At PIM we have experience in supporting patients with these challenges.
